Sue Drost said… Hi Jay,
So good to get to know you on the phone several weeks ago. I've finished my radiation to the bone met and feel so much better. Pain is gone and range of motion is better. I find out Thursday about KRAS status and this will determine next treatment. I've had several tumors in the liver grow a bit, so time for the next weapon! Hope you're well.
Sue

Hello Jay. i was diagnosed with Stage 3 colorectal cancer in dec of 2011. I havent had surgery yet to remove the tumor. i just finished treatments of chemo and radiation on the 14 th of March, they were trying to shrink it. i go to my surgeon on the 27 th of march and he will let me know when i will have surgery to remove the tumor. i have been through lot. i had to have a colostomy done in jan of 2012 due to bowel problems. i am just fighting this cancer one day at a time.

Thanks for your comment on my page Jay. To say 2011 was a life-altering year for us would be an understatement. We've been so many different areas with this treatment...from an initial plan of local hospital wanting to just do emergency surgery, to JHU telling us we'd do radiation, surgery, then chemo, to chemo once they thought they saw liver mets (Which was just noise on the scan), to surgery when they were kind've unsure if the lung spots were mets, back to chemo now that they saw growth in the lung mets (3 months between scans, growth of about 1 cm). The oncologist is optimistic that with her age and past treatment results, she might have a good bit of fight left in her. But I tell you, it's a lot better for me to SEE people on here who've been going on 3-4 years or longer and are also far from the end of their fight. My wife is, at least for now, sticking with LTD from her work so she can stay home with our kids and get as much time with them as she can, just in case her fight doesn't go as well. But something in me just says the next scan HAS to be better, and we're going to have some fun beating this cancer around before it has a chance to suck more life out of us.
Marilyn Hicks said… Hi Jay,
Thank you for your comment. Thankfully I am not in any treatment at the moment and just had my colonoscopy which they found 3 polyps. All were benign. I also had a good CT scan except for a belly full of scar tissue and a partial small bowel blockage but other than that, I'm doing good. I wish you well and hope 2012 is a good year for you.
Nice to hear from you,
Marilyn
Hi Jay. Congratulations on your few side effects from all of these cocktails, I am very familiar with your chemo regimet. I am currently on Avastin and Erbitux. I took the 5-FU, Oxaplatin and others that I forget at the time. When you think of it check with your Oncologist regarding hearing loss from the Oxaplatin. This is one of the side effects that sneaks up on us. Hopefully you are spared from this because it continued to eat away at my hearing which was too say the least poor before the treatments. That was just a factoid I wanted to share with you. I am interested in what mushrtoom complex you are taking as well as chinese herbs. My Oncologist said that I am in a sweet position as I am no evevidence of the disease. He recommended be to expand my supplemental use and I believe you are in the know of information that I have been sorely looking for. My mets were in the rectum and liver. Right side of liver completely removed, then the lesions attacked the left liver lobe, 2 radio frequencies later they zapped them, cells in the rectum burned to kingdom come. Have a very happy holiday and lets strive for a very healthy New Years for you my warrior.
