"Hi Denise, What is KRAS?  How long did they say you would be on Chemo? I have had 2.  Already having side effects because of the amount of chemo I already had.  Are you having any side effects?"

KRAS is a mutation that makes certain chemo meds ineffective.  Hopefully I find out tomorrow if I have the mutation.    I'm not at all sure what the mutation is or why so many colon cancer patients have it (40%).   I guess I'll just wait to see what my doctor says and then I'll deal with it.   My second chemo is tomorrow, Folfox and Avastin.  I hope it goes as smoothly as the first one.  Good luck.

Hi Nancy,

Wow, sounds like you have been through way too much for one person. I'm so sorry! This is a great place for support, many stage IV survivors managing for 5+ years.

In addition to this site, we can match you with a one-on-one buddy to give you a call. If you are interested, please complete a buddy request here, or call our helpline at 877-422-2030 to be matched.

We are also taking scholarship applications for a waiting list to our National Conference this October in Miami. It's a great place to meet other survivors going through what you're going through in addition to hearing top doctors speak. Click here for more information about the conference and to complete a scholarship application.

Please let us know how we can help.

Best,

Nancy

This is a wonderful sight, and I need to find more time to logon because they offer so much support. Stay strong, stay positive, smile and fight!

Welcome Nancy.  Glad you are here though I am so sorry this is happening to you.  Sounds like your plate is filled with yourself and now dad.  We have many survivors who are managing both liver and lung involvement so please feel free to post on our message boards or pop into our daily chat!  We meet 12-1 EST Mon-Fri for support and friendship.  Just click on the chat tab above.

We are here to help.  You are on what we call FOLFOX (5fu/leucovorin/oxiliplatin).  Are they adding in avastin?  Have you been tested for KRAS?  This will determine if you are eligible for erbitux or vectibix.

I look forward to hearing more about your journey.
